Mixed media on stretched canvas – This piece is framed in a light oak L shaped frame

This was the first time I painted on a primed black canvas and I loved the way some of the colours came right out. They just popped.

I used a liquitex gloss medium mixed with acrylic paints and added it to the canvas so in some areas the paint has a high shine effect.

I wanted to paint a face, and as this face developed it just had such a friendly feel. Always makes me smile!
