Gathering
Gathering is a developing body of work exploring the relationship between nature, memory and imagination.
Growing up in Nigeria, surrounded by dense, lush vegetation, I would see faces and figures emerging from the trees, creating an alternative reality through my childhood imagination. To this day, I still find myself discovering these hidden forms in nature.
Working with ink, acrylic, mixed media and gold leaf, these pieces bring together trees, interlinked figures and imagined creatures.
These works were created for Gathering: Stories at the Turning of the Season, a group exhibition bringing together four artists, each interpreting the theme through their own artistic practice. The exhibition is part of the VAA OpenSpaces 2026 programme and takes place at Cloisters Kitchen & Garden, within the cloisters of Chichester Cathedral, from 5–15 November 2026.
The collection reflects both the changing seasons and my continuing fascination with the worlds we discover within the natural environment.
