Oh Noah! is inspired by a piece of folklore linked to the biblical flood — the tale that the magpie refused to board the ark, choosing instead to remain outside in the storm, chattering and singing through the rain.

This smaller work captures that moment of defiance with a lighter, sharper energy. The magpie is alert, vocal, and unbothered by expectation — a figure that questions authority and survives through instinct rather than obedience.

Layered marks and colour suggest rising water and movement, while the bird remains grounded in its refusal. Sitting alongside She Sang Through the Flood, this piece acts as a concentrated echo of the same story — a reminder that rebellion can be quiet, clever, and quietly enduring.
