Unlike the more layered works in the series, this piece leans into immediacy. The magpie was created using a hand-cut stencil and spray paint, bringing a sharper, more spontaneous energy to the surface. That directness mirrors the attitude of the bird itself — alert, opinionated, and unafraid to respond.

This work plays with humour and instinct, offering a lighter counterpoint within What We Carry: The Magpie Series. A reminder that not every response is solemn — sometimes it’s simply a pause and a question: come again?
